Indiana University’s Memorial Stadium was due for a redesign of the railing system, which was contracted to RATIO and SmithGroup for design. The design concept was complex, calling for glass railing that was both shoe mounted and post mounted, as well as wire mesh infill panel railing. The original design called for a series of custom post shapes that were unique, but more expensive than the budget could bear.

Working with specialty contractor Spohn Associates of Indianapolis, the architects were presented with several more cost-effective choices, but finally opted for Hollaender’s Interna-Rail® and VISION “customizable standard” aluminum railing systems. The common thread was the material and construction, a non-welded mechanical aluminum design that was able to fulfill all design and functionality requirements.
